Guy Mitchell began his career as a recording artiste in December 1947 and over the 50 years that followed recorded over 300 songs. Guy will however be best remembered for his pop hits of the 1950s when he charted over 25 singles (six of which sold over a million copies) and achieved worldwide sales of over 44-million units.

DURING 1950, GUY RELEASED A SERIES OF SINGLES FOR HIS NEW LABEL COLUMBIA RECORDS. THIS PARTICULAR ONE WAS HIS LAST FOR THAT YEAR AND THE ONE TO CATAPULT HIM TO SUPER-STARDOM. BOTH SIDES OF THIS SINGLE SOLD SEPARATELY OVER A MILLION COPIES AND WERE CERTIFIED GOLD. CARL SIGMAN AND PERCY FAITH ADAPTED GUY’S #2 HIT “MY HEART..” FROM AN 18TH CENTURY FRENCH MELODY THAT WAS SAID TO BE COMPOSED BY QUEEN MARIE ANTOINETTE.

BUT IT FAILED TO CHART. COLUMBIA THEN RE-ISSUED THE SINGLE ON 7" FORMAT FOLLOWING THE ROARING SUCCESS OF “MY HEART CRIES FOR YOU”. IT WAS THEN IN 1967 THAT HE RELEASED THE FIRST OF TWO NASHVILLE PRODUCED ALBUMS FOR STARDAY RECORDS. THESE PARTICULAR A&B SIDE SONGS WERE TAKEN FROM SESSIONS FOR THE SECOND OF THESE LPs, “SINGIN’ UP A STORM”. THIS SINGLE WAS HIS BIGGEST CHART SUCCESS FOR STARDAY AND REACHED #71 ON THE COUNTRY CHARTS.

During the 1970s, Guy released a couple of newly recorded singles in the USA. The 1980s then spurred a few unique UK only releases. His final single, “Dusty, The Magic Elf”, however would be in the US on his own record label in October 2000.
